Rabi Madrasa

A concept work was realized with regards to the historic and architectural features of the Rabi Madrasa, a part of the Suleymaniye Mosque Complex built by Sinan the Architect in the 16th century.

The design of the project for the structure, transferred to an educational foundation after the restoration, includes seating units, study chairs, guest sofas, desks and lighting units. During the concept and design processes of the desk and the library, the tree for the wooden parts were chosen as oak due to Sinan’s original choices. In keeping faithful to the original design, the metal bars and other important parts of the structure were cast from massif iron in special molds and were used as chandeliers, wall panels and table legs. The texture and 3 dimensional form in the library and tables were replicated exactly from the Kündekâri model used repeatedly in Classical Ottoman and Sinan The Architect’s works.

As a result of all this work, not only were interior architecture and design products applied and were made available according to needs, but also an area was created for individuals to live together with this classical structure without alienating themselves from its history.

The Restoration of a Tradition

With the concept work applied to Sinan The Architect’s great work an area was created
for individuals to live together with this classical structure without alienating themselves from its history.
