Istanbul Youth Festival
In the exhibition placed at Yenikapı Square as part of “Istanbul Youth Festival” and “The 3rd Ethnosports Culture Festival”, the significant historical moments from 1071 to the present were told through a time tunnel concept.
The sections comprising of moments that could be described as milestones of Turkish history in Anatolia, start off from the 1071 Malazgirt/Manzikert Victory, thought to be the beginning point; and reach out from the Conquest of Constantinople to the Battle of Gallipoli and to recent political history with coup attempts. The exhibition narrative was reinforced with unique works of Anatolian architecture, oral and written cultural products, information about important intellectuals and thinkers raised in this geography, the major events of our modernization history such as the declaration of the Tanzimat Order, the opening of the first Turkish Grand National Assembly, the symbol of national sovereignty, and Atatürk’s speech from the parliament balcony. Each section was enriched with various auditory and fragrance effects and interactive applications.
The “long journey” we have partaken with the event held in May 2018 was finished with youth taking notes over history, in a sense putting down a mark in history.
The exhibition placed in a tent in accordance with the architectural texture of the event took its visitors on a journey in the time tunnel.
