The exhibition “Brotherhood Story: Ankara School” held in Seoul International Book Fair presented the solidarity between Turkish soldiers and Koreans, exceeding the limits of front lines for the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and South Korea.
Turkish brigades won the respect and love of South Koreans and its allies while also making Turkish Armed Forces proud. At the heart of the Turkish Brigade’s relationship with the civilian population, renowned as the “North Star” for their heroism on the frontlines, which symbolizes guidance, was the Ankara School, where orphaned children were educated and rehabilitated. Photographs and memoirs about the school, and the war, were displayed as a sign of friendship between Türkiye and South Korea.
The exhibition was opened in June 2017 by the First Lady Kim Jung Sook during her visit to Türkiye’s pavilion, which was the “Guest of Honor” at the fair.
The solidarity of the Turkish army with the Koreans, unique in the history of mankind,
not just in the front but also behind the frontier was told with photographs,
objects and documents from that period.
