Adnan Menderes Museum of Democracy

The museum, built to honor the memory of the symbolic name of Türkiye’s fight for democracy, Adnan Menderes, sheds light on one of the most debated periods of our recent history while presenting its visitors the humane part of him which has been disregarded until recently.

The life of former prime minister’s life is shown in the first floor with a percious collection of his personal belongings, photographs and documents in the museum which was built in Menderes’ birthplace Aydın, near Çine rivulet. The second floor consists of Democrat Party news that started its journey with the maxim “Enough! The Word Belongs To The People!”. This part of the museum which documents and objects of the time was meticulously gathered also shows the practices signed by Menderes.

The museum, which opened in 2021, starts with a personal story and connects it to the nation’s struggle for democracy. It offers a comprehensive perspective on preserving Menderes’ memory and passing his legacy on to future generations.
