Brides of Anatolia

Created as a part of Istanbul Youth Festival and 3rd Ethnosports Culture Festival that are both held in May 2018, the exhibition focused on centuries-long tradition of Anatolia’s ceremonial dresses.

Traditional clothing culture of Anatolia reflects the richness of the people that have been living here for centuries and the most majestic examples of this are the weddings. The exhibition put the “stars” of these ceremonies, the brides, and their dresses, jewellery and ornaments to its center and gave the visitors an opportunity to witness the wide range of traditions that change with generations and geographical locations.

The collector Yusuf İyilik, who searched every corner of Anatolia meticulously, gave the visitors an opportunity to witness the wide range of wedding dresses and belongings that change with generations and geographical locations.
