Yağıbasan Madrasa, which is the first Turko-Islamic madrasa built in Anatolia, is the first example of Nezamiyeh ecolé of madrasas that provide both religious and scientific education. This structure, shaped with a focus on functionality and utilizing local construction techniques, can be considered an indicator of a new, local architectural style that has emerged as a fresh start in Anatolia. Yağıbasan Madrasa History of Education and Science Museum is a project to revive the historical heritage of it by creating a lively, modern and original museum and an educational experience.
The project which was designed in 2019 consists of classrooms, a library, study and workshop areas, thematic museum cells, displays of original/replica works and interactive features. With these functions it holds, the madrasa aims to bring both past and present to visitors’ eyes.
