Traces of Migration exhibition was designed with VR to highlight the magnificient works in Syria, damaged due to the civil war yet still keeping their glory.
The historical sights in Syria which was home to many religions, languages and civilization with many colorful cultures, was substantially conserved for centuries until this day and age. Unfortunately, “modern” humanity with “modern” technology led to another page of barbarism by destroying these historical artifacts in 21st century.
To experience the shared heritage of humanity in Palmyra, a crossroad of major trade routes in ancient times; to hear the echoes of merchants’ voices within the walls of Aleppo’s Ottoman-era bazaar, one of history’s first shopping centers; to lose yourself in the intricate decorations of the Umayyad Mosque built during the Umayyad era in Damascus; to feel the grandeur of Sahyun castle; and to reflect in the gardens of Al-Azm Palace… All these experiences in Traces of Migration hinted the colorful depth of the past and the peace in the future for us.
With contents produced by Paris based Iconem and Istanbul based Alart, “Traces of Migration” exhibition was showcased as a part of International Migration Film Festival in 2020. The exhibition’s aim was to bring awareness to the vast history of Syria, which is recently remembered with tragedies.
